Born and raised in San Francisco, California, Karys Rhea has always been a natural performer. Her passion for the performing arts has included dance, acting, and most of all, music. Her vast interest in music began at the age of six when she started taking formal piano lessons, and her love of the theater flourished when she soon began singing and acting in musical productions such as Grease (Frenchie), Annie (Duffy), and Showboat (Kim). Karys' love of music eventually led to expression through dance, and in her early teen years, she auditioned and was accepted into two semi-professional dance companies: Soulforce Dance Company, and No Label Hip-Hop Dance Company. Her performances have included the San Francisco Hip-hop Dancefest 2004 and the NBA All-Star Pre-game 2001. Karys studied guitar and voice throughout high school and university with Deborah Winters and Pat Cerello, and has completed her studies at New York University with a double degree in journalism and religious studies. |
